Almost a month has passed since this concert (the 4th U2′ concert in a bit more than an year for me) and a lot of thing have gone through my life. This concert has been different from the ones I’ve been before. Probably the rain, probably a smaller stadium, probably a different setlist, probably Bono in a great shape, but the concert has been somewhat different. This concert has seen the live debut of “Mercy” and I also had chance to listen a bunch of songs I haven’t listen before. Unfortunately, because of the heavy rain, the Encore was shorter and With or Without You and Ultraviolet/Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me were not played. I wish they did, but unfortunately the weather was so terrible.

More or less. Laura & I were wandering in Oxford Street, then in Tottenham Court Road. It was 7PM and we thought to eat a pizza in Goodge Street1. Then, she said “Why don’t we go near the stadium and we see how the stadium and the area looks like?”. “OK”, I replied. Then I had a look at the clock, started a quick calculation on the tube map and my brain had a flash: if we run just a bit, we are under the stadium just in time to seat and see the concert! What!?!? “We already have a ticket for tomorrow”, I said myself! I don’t mind! If tonight they play “Stay” and I’m not inside That stadium, I will blame for the rest of my life that I didn’t spent few pounds to get in.
We took the tube, we did the shortest way (probably not the quickest) and we arrived at Wembley around 8 o’clock. Just the time to make few steps out of the tube station and a guy came toward me and said: “do you want a ticket?” Yep, sure I want one (in my mind again)! “What kind of ticket do you have?” “Standing”, he said. Then my answer was “No, Thanks”. Than another guy came and said “I have two seating tickets”. “How much”. “40£ each”. I was nearly to open my wallet, then I had a quick look around (so many people with tickets to sell and so few minutes before the start!) and a very quick check to my finance. “No, it’s to much” was my answer. He promptly replied: “How much do you offer?”. Quick look to the Laura’s eyes, then “25£ each”.
I have to say, it worth more than 25£. The concert was Magnificent2, the place inside the stadium was amazing, the thrilling feeling inside me made the concert even better than the real thing, but they didn’t play “Stay”. This is the set-list:

dsc_5336 I woke the day after quite late. It was midday, more or less. As soon as the sleepiness went away, I realized that I had another ticket for the U2′s gig. Great! Honestly, after waiting for 15 years to see the U2, it’s quite amazing to see them 3 times in a bit more than one month. The second day concert was amazing. The set-list probably more interesting than the first day. The seating a bit closer to the stage and the stadium not completely full. I also had the chance to bring a couple of friends (unfortunately they had to seat somewhere else). There are few gems (Yes, I finally listen “Stay” live!) in the set-list:

I’d been waiting this concert for years. I remember the day we spent the night on ticketone to reserve the site we liked. Since then a lot of things happened. But it’s not time to remember this concert anymore. I’ve bought the tickets for the concert in Wembley and I’m really looking forward to seeing that stadium and that concert. If it will be at least half good as it was in Milan, it will be the second best concert of my life anyway!

And, fortunately, everything goes OK. Radiohead is a great band, with a lot of colors and feeling. A band that change radicaly its style across the career, but with a strong background.
The concert was full of colors and effect. The stage is at same time simple and full of impact. Weather you have possibility to see them, catch it!

Questa volta è stata l’occasione per vedere Satriani (l’avevo già visto al G3 di Pistoia, alcuni anni fa). Ma l’occasione era ancora più ghiotta, visto la presenza di Paul Gilbert come apertura del concerto.
Non c’è molto altro da aggiungere: il concerto è stato semplicemente DEVASTANTE! :lol:
Il concerto di Paul Gilbert è durato circa 50 minuti: una session tra pezzi nuovi e pezzi vecchi, sia suoi (come Down to Mexico) che con i RacerX (come Scarified e Technical Difficulties). Ecco la track list:

Seguo i Porcupine Tree da un paio di anni, subito dopo l’uscita di “In Absentia”. Ho visto uscire “Deadwing” e l’ultimo disco, “Fear of a Blank Planet“… e me li sono visti passare davanti gli occhi in tournee almeno un paio di volte in Italia! :@ Così questa volta, visto che c’era la possibilità di unire due belle occasioni, ho fatto un giretto in Inghilterra e sono andato a vedere i Porcupine Tree in una delle prime date del loro tour mondiale, iniziato dalla loro patria natale. Attualmente sono in Inghilterra, ma spero passino in Europa in estate (ci sono già delle date in alcuni festival per Luglio). Se passeranno in Italia, io sarò sotto il loro palco. La scaletta che hanno suonato è questa:

Intanto tra una settimana vado a vedere i Porcupine Tree a Bristol, UK. Il loro nuovo album (Fear of a Blank Planet) è uscito 2 giorni fa. Devo dire che non mi ha entusiasmato particolarmente… però bramavo già da un bel po’ di tempo di riuscirli a vedere, quindi quest’occasione proprio ci voleva!! ;) Le foto non mancheranno, ovviamente!
Per Giugno è annunciato anche il nuovo album dei Dream Theater (Systematic Chaos). Il loro passaggio in Italia è fissato per il God of Metal del 3 Giugno a Milano. Purtroppo non sono gli headliner della serata, quindi non avranno il tempo per un concerto “intero”. Non è ancora deciso se ci saranno altre date in Italia. Sul sito infatti sono riportate solo quelle del tour americano ed altre date europee sparse per i vari festival. Probabilmente attenderò il loro ormai abituale ritorno in autunno per poterli vedere.
Altro passaggio interessante: l’8 Giugno gli Evanescence suonano nell’area Expo di Pisa, nell’ambito nel Metarock Festival. Da non perdere…
Poi c’è il classico appuntamento dell’estate toscana, il Pistoia Blues. Sicuramente la data più importante – per me! – è il 15 Luglio, con la presenza di Steve Vai in prima serata… anche questo credo proprio che non me lo perderò!!! :)
